Stone Sheep Hunt, Day 8
Elation has had to make room for dismay.

Day 8, 2 a.m. PDT
It has taken more than four hours to pack the ram back to where we left the horses. My legs want to shut down. I am close to becoming immobile until I get some rest. Elation has had to make room for dismay. Can I even get up in the saddle?
11:30 a.m. PDT
This is a beautiful day in Rosewater Canyon. A ram in camp (yes!), cloudless sky and the sun is warm. While Brandon and Max tend to the sheep cape and other chores, I climb into the saddle behind camp. I told the guys I wanted to pick some of the blueberries we had seen growing there, but I really need to be alone a couple hours to bring myself back to earth. The trudge uphill is hard, but surprisingly my legs are working okay.
Go to Day 9.
