undefinedBowhunters love adventure and this next one for me is a biggie! My husband, Phil, and I are leaving for Greenland today for an archery muskox and caribou hunt. He’ll get an episode for “Phil Phillips Unleashed” and I’ll get one heck of a destination-and-adventure feature story for American Hunter … unless I just jinxed it!

As you’d expect, I’ve cranked up the weight I’m pulling and can’t even count the Easton arrows I’ve flung into bag targets, Block targets, Delta McKenzie 3-D targets. … But what I didn’t expect was to change bows. When Mathews rolled out its 2012 women’s bow—the single-cam Jewel—I found it so fast, quiet and easy to draw and shoot that I set a 50-yard sight mark in two shots. I swore I’d never shoot another bow, but Mathews has this catchy “Rethink Your Possibilities” slogan and a couple months ago turned my head with its new-for-2014 women’s bow—the Chill SDX. Now I’m a dual-cam fan! Sporting the AVS DYAD Cam system with perimeter weighting for minimal post-shot vibration and serious speed for downrange energy, this bow is silky smooth. It’s easy to draw, thanks to Mathews’ Reverse Assist Roller Guard, which decreases cable tension. And another plus for chasing critters in Greenland—or anywhere else: This bow is lightweight and compact. In step with its Monster Chill namesake, I’ve become well, a little “monster!” Any female bowhunter who hasn’t yet shot this bow yet will be quite a fan once she does!
