New Year 2019 is getting off to a good start for American hunters as Safari Club International (SCI) prepares to kick off its 47th Annual SCI Hunters’ Convention in Reno, Nev., Jan. 9-12. As the first major hunting show of 2019, up to 20,000 all-American hunters are set to hit the Reno-Sparks Convention Center to navigate an exhibit hall spanning nearly 500,000 square feet packed with 900-plus exhibitor booths representing six continents.

If you’ve not yet made your travel plans, it’s never too late to get in the game. This is where we search for adventure in the off-season—scoping out the aisles to chat with exhibitors, check out new hunting guns and gear, take advantage of the show’s free hunting seminars and meet up with old friends. It’s also the place to kick off the new year with a little business, whether by shopping for cool wildlife-themed art for your game room or by booking your next adventure right on the spot. Regardless of your preferred wild game species or hunting method, if you can imagine it, you can book it here. This is why the annual SCI show is known as the ultimate hunter’s marketplace.

For more good news, SCI is giving attendees free tickets for floor-credit drawings. Winners can use the credits on the show floor just like cash.

By the way, the fun isn’t over when the exhibit hall closes. Every evening, SCI members and guests gather to celebrate hunters and hunting at banquets and live and silent fundraising auctions. Bid on a custom hunting rifle or a once-in-a-lifetime hunting trip. Or maybe you want to try for a unique piece of jewelry, an antler chandelier or some other unique outdoor-themed item for the home. Funds raised help to preserve our hunting heritage and support wildlife conservation.

The show is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wed., Jan. 9, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 10-12. For more information, visit showsci.org.
