Apex Turkey TSS shotshells are now shipping, and orders of three boxes or more will come in a limited-edition, Mossy Oak Greenleaf wooden cigar box.

Now a collector’s item, the Apex custom cigar boxes were born out of necessity and the company’s unwavering commitment to customer service.

“In 2019, we discovered our shotshells were frequently damaged during shipping, despite our experimentation with various packing materials to prevent this,” said Jason Lonsberry, president and CEO of Apex Ammunition. “Our mission was to find a shipping solution as reliable as the performance of our shotshells.”

The Apex team originally thought of “old-school ammo crates” like the wooden ones used by soldiers and hunters back in the day, then refined the concept and chose to go with custom wooden cigar boxes. Filled with shredded paper and sporting a clean, rustic look, the box wasn’t just functional—it quickly became a customer favorite. The following year, the design was tweaked and the look enhanced while also incorporating quotes from renowned outdoor enthusiasts and pioneers in the industry.

“What started as a shipping solution quickly evolved into a signature piece of our brand,” continued Lonsberry. “Each fall, we begin the creative process of designing the next year’s box and release them in limited runs. Today, our customers have embraced the idea of collecting, trading, and even sharing photos of every box they have acquired which, along with the anticipation of each new design, has become part of the APEX experience.

Apex Turkey TSS loads are currently available in multiple gauges—10 gauge, 12 gauge, 16 gauge, 20 gauge, 28 gauge and.410 bore—and a variety of shot sizes, shell lengths and blends.
