Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced, with much fanfare, the formation of a new gun-control group, Everytown for Gun Safety, and his plans to spend $50 million in 2014 to wage war on the National Rifle Association. (In-depth coverage by NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox can be found in the upcoming June issues of the NRA's Official Journals, American RiflemanAmerican Hunter and America’s 1st Freedom.)

“They say, ‘We don’t care. We’re going to go after you,’” Bloomberg said of the NRA in a New York Times feature. “‘If you don’t vote with us we’re going to go after your kids and your grandkids and your great-grandkids. And we’re never going to stop.’”

Of course, that’s hogwash. But make no mistake: Bloomberg truly believes he can win the gun control debate with his millions of dollars. Absurdly, he even thinks that most Americans are on his side. (Apparently he doesn’t get out of the big city much.)

Showing his arrogance and delusions of grandeur, Bloomberg said in an interview that, “I don’t know what your perception is of our reputation, and mine, the name Bloomberg around the country.” He continued, saying wherever he goes, people tell him, “‘You’re a rock star.’ People yelling out of cabs, ‘Hey, way to go!’”

In fact, Bloomberg seems to believe that, by taking on you, me and 5 million other law-abiding Americans who are proud to be NRA members, he is doing God’s work.

“I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in,” he said. “I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”

Hardware Review: Steyr Pro Hunter III SX

While its most recognizable gun remains the ever-futuristic-looking AUG tactical bullpup first made in 1977 and still used by militaries worldwide, Steyr also makes handguns and hunting rifles. Its Pro Hunter III SX rifle is an all-around hunting rifle and a great example of Steyr quality, a trait much easier felt than described. I’ll try it anyway.

Copper Mine Helps Boost Arizona’s Bighorn Population

One of the world’s most productive copper mines is also one of Arizona’s most reliable sources of Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep. The bighorns are not shy about entering the Freeport McMoRan open-pit mining operation—near Morenci, Ariz.—but predators are. As a result, there’s no natural check on sheep population growth.
