With an eye toward whitetail hunters, ALPS Outdoorz has developed the Impulse Pack. Wrapped in Deadquiet fleece to help deaden sound when contacting clothing, trees, or anything of the like, the pack promises to make it harder to spook your quarry when every sound matters. Further, the fleece is enhanced with a waterproof membrane to protect contents from moisture and to prevent “waterlogging” in snowy or rainy conditions.

Another nod to maximizing silence is the Impulse’s zipperless main compartment lid. The fold-open lid utilizes a series of strong magnets and an aluminum hook to keep the lid closed and contents secure during transport yet allows for quiet opening by foregoing traditional zippers.

Finally, the pack's overall structure is engineered to allow the pack to stand upright on the ground, or treestand platform. This allows for an easier time locating contents inside, while still reducing its footprint.

For more information on this pack, colored in Realtree Edge, and weighing in at 5 pounds 4 ounces, with a 30-liter capacity, please visit alpsoutdoorz.comMSRP: $149.99

Three Whitetail Traps to Set for Close Shots

Your whitetail hunting location may be as expansive as a national forest or as small as an uncle’s 40-acre woodlot. In either scenario, whitetails have a knack for slipping by just out of shooting range. Whether using a firearm or archery equipment, you do have options to lure whitetails closer. Consider setting a trap this season for your best opportunity at an ethical, in-your-face shot.
