Nikon brought optical image stabilization to its handheld rangefinder last year, and has expanded its capabilities this year in its new Monarch 3000 Stabilized, with the ability to range 3,000 yards while reducing viewfinder vibrations by approximately 80 percent.

The red OLED display has five brightness settings, making it easy to read in any light conditions. The small, ergonomic design allows for fast target acquisition while the laser provides the range at the touch of a button. Hold the button down, and the unit will continuously measure across targets for 8 seconds.

The Monarch 3000 Stabilized has a 6X monocular with 18mm eye-relief and a 7.7-degree field of view. The unit measures incline or decline, and offers a target priority mode for reading at close or far distances, without picking up limbs or other obstacles. The Nikon Monarch 3000 Stabilized has an MSRP of $419.95.

Coyote Tactics: Stay Flexible

The successful hunters I know do not get hung up on one tactic. They constantly float between strategies in an ever-changing hunting environment. Quite simply, they’re flexible.
