New for 2017, Winchester has enhanced their ammunition line by including the fantastic Nosler AccuBond Long Range bullet in the Expedition Big Game series. The famous bonded-core, polymer-tipped bulletwhich has been a favorite among long range hunters—is employed by Winchester to give both good trajectory, and excellent wind deflection capability, to give an excellent blend of both long range ballistics and terminal performance. Winchester has chosen to use heavy-for-caliber bullets in this line, to maximize the desired long range characteristics.

The Expedition Big Game Long Range line is available in popular cartridges including 6.5 Creedmoor, .270 Winchester, 7mm Remington Magnum, .30-’06 Springfield, .300 Winchester Short Magnum and .300 Winchester Magnum. All three .30 calibers use the 190-grain bullet, the 7mm is a 168-grain slug, the .270 a 150-grain and the 6.5 uses a 142-grain bullet. I got to shoot the .300 Winchester ammo at the SHOT Show Industry Day at the Range, and it was plenty accurate, with completely manageable recoil. Were a hunter looking to flatten his or her trajectory, while using a projectile that maximizes the long range performance of their chosen cartridge, the new Winchester ammunition should get an audition.
