I’ve made my feelings known regarding feral cats (FYI: I hate ’em), but my disdain is related to their impact on birds. I never suspected they’d attack a human being.

But, as reported by The Independent, a 31-year-old woman was walking her dog in eastern France when six feral cats pounced.

“The cats jumped on my daughter and managed to knock her over,” said Josette Galliot, mother of the victim. “They bit her on the leg and on her arms. They even pierced an artery.”

Yikes.

Apparently France has a severe cat problem, to say the least. The Independent reports that 8,000 feral cats are born in the country every single day. Almost makes feral hogs sound downright hospitable.

Is there a solution? Not a politically correct one, but can we not at the very least ensure that house cats are kept in the house?

"We have long accepted the fact that you can't let your dog run free,” said Stanley Temple, University of Wisconsin-Madison professor emeritus in conservation. “And yet cat owners seem to take offense at the idea that they would be asked to keep their cats indoors.”
